"Procrastinate Later"

"The best way to get something done is to begin." ~Author Unknown
What is Procrastination?
So what is procrastination? Basically, procrastination is the act of putting off an essential task until a later time. We have all been there for whatever reason. But we don’t have to stay there. Procrastination is the number one time stealer. You have the power to overcome it, by making the decision to just do it!
Have you ever heard the question, “How do you eat an elephant?”…one bite at a time! This is SO true! Don’t become overwhelmed. Instead, make the decision to overcome. Choose a task, make a plan of action and make it happen.
There is a lot about this subject I could talk about, but I don’t have time, I have things to do-LOL! Below are just a few tips I have learned through the years.  Procrastination is a state of mind, just like everything else in life, attitude is everything. Perfectionism can cause procrastination. Most people won’t start a task unless they know it will be completed perfectly. Don’t buy into this lie! Life is a process and the process is just as important as the end result. There is so much to be gained in the process that most people refuse to even start….make today count!
1)Have a plan of action- this keeps you from being distracted! Post it where you can see it!
2)Make yourself accountable (tell someone your goal). Set a goal date or time and keep working on it until it gets done. Don’t quit!
3)Keep it simple people! Don’t over plan, be realistic.
4)Start with the most important task and work to the next one task at a time.
5)Having time increments helps. Maybe work in 15 minute increments and take a break. Keep going until you get it done.
6)At the end of the day, review your progress; don’t become frustrated if you didn’t get everything done. Remember that the process is just as important as the success!
Just do it! Put aside excuses , the laziness and the overwhelming emotions and take a step- you will be amazed at how the first step in the hardest.
What are you putting off today? Whatever it is, decide it will be the last day you allow your procrastination to overpower you.
Have a great Monday!
